The 1928 Housefinder map was made by the House Finder Map Company of Pelham, New York, and the copy scanned here is held by Rauner Special Collections Library at Dartmouth College (G3744.H3 1928 .H68 c.2). Works published in the United States in 1928 entered the public domain on the first of January 2024.

The Sanborn fire insurance sheets are from the Library of Congress, Geography and Map Division, Sanborn Maps Collection. They are in the public domain and free to use and reuse. Color is the code on a Sanborn: yellow means wood frame, pink means brick, blue means stone or concrete, and the numbers give the stories. The surveyors wrote the occupant into each footprint, which is why an insurance document accidentally recorded who stood behind every counter in town. Sheet 1 of each edition carries the index key showing which sheet covers which streets, so start there.
